## Usage info {#usage-info}

This scope is only available to [Slack apps](https://docs.slack.dev/quickstart.md). Check the [`chat.postMessage`](https://docs.slack.dev/reference/methods/chat.postmessage.md#authorship) documentation for more information on how to use this scope. The [`files.completeUploadExternal`](https://docs.slack.dev/reference/methods/files.completeuploadexternal.md) method also supports this scope for customizing the bot identity on file share messages.

To use this scope, your app must also request [`chat:write`](https://docs.slack.dev/reference/scopes/chat.write.md).
